Youth Sports

QC Baseball
http://www.qcbaseball.com
QCBaseball.com is an excellent resource for youth baseball players and their coaches . Don Edlin is the gentleman who developed this outstanding and comprehensive baseball instructional web site. Not only is the site packed with numerous tips, drills, diagrams and video clips, the material he has assembled is free to players and coaches. Unlike so many coaching or instructional sites these days that try to attract coaches and players to their site for the purpose of selling stuff - DVDs or videos - QCBaseball is on the internet for the sole purpose of helping develop better baseball players and better youth baseball coaches. The coach who visits qcbaseball.com is sure to find valuable tips and advice about baseball instruction for each players position and many baseball game situations but will also benefit from Edlin's down to earth philosophy about coaching children, the importance of winning and dealing with parents.

Hats off to Don Edlin for creating perhaps the quintessential baseball instruction resource that players and coaches can go to for answers to their youth baseball questions.

This site is created by JoePaterno.com and features advice for coaches, a coach's manual, on-line clinics, animated skill drills with detail descriptions and QuickTime movie clips, strength and conditioning drills, a "Coach's Chat Coffee Shop" to visit with coaches, as well as interesting articles by big name coaches and up-to-the minute football news and developments. The coaching staff at Coach Illustrated has such recognized and respected coaches as Joe Paterno, Lou Holtz, Frank Beamer, Rick Neuheisel, Butch Davis, Hal Mummy and many others. There is a membership required ($22) to access some of the services such as the "Coach's Chat Coffee Shop" and some of the articles but lots of helpful and interesting information is available free to on-line visitors.

Positive Coaching
http://www.positivecoach.org/
The Positive Coaching Alliance is an organization based at Stanford University that is trying to change the culture of youth sports. They are trying to create a positive culture where kids love to play the game and look forward to practice and games as times where they have fun. PCA believes that the youth sports experience provides opportunities for children to learn important lessons about determination, commitment, hard work, team work and empathy while acquiring increased self-confidence and positive character traits. Unfortunately these opportunities are being squandered by untrained coaches who blindly emulate the win-at-all-cost mentality that filters down from professional sports and by  volunteers in youth sports organizations who are unprepared to lead these complex educational/sports organizations. This excellent site  provides coaches, parents and league organizers on overview of the tools available to create the changes that are are so desperately needed in youth sports today. Check it out.
