Here's a poem from Linda. We'll let her describe it:

My daughter has been playing competitive sports since she was eight. Now she is a freshman in high school and still enjoying playing soccer, basketball and now a new sport to her - lacrosse. Over the years she has been on both side of the fence. Most of the time because of her athletic ability she starts and plays the whole game, but at times she sat the bench with little to no play time. She has always been a dedicated team player, never missing practices, unless she was really sick. Each coach has had what they call their rules for the team, but the rules never seem the same for every kid. I have heard many parents talk about this subject. Any way with this in mind, I wrote a poem some kids might be able to relate to.

Don't forget about me Coach!

Don't forget about me coach!
I want to play too.
You picked me for you team coach,
don't forget about me.
I come to all the practices,
I come to all the games.
Am I to small to see coach,
don't forget about me.
You say you have your rules coach,
I follow to a tee.
Some  kids that don't come to practice,
seem to get in every game.
What about the rules coach,
why aren't they the same?
You speak of dedication,
and how you want to win.
Do you think of how I feel coach?
If only for a few minutes,
please let me in!
All players make mistakes coach,
why was it mine that lost the game?
Other players made mistakes coach,
somehow it's not the same.
I didn't have a chance coach,
you pulled me right away.
I could have made it up coach,
if you gave me a chance to stay.
It's easy to forget me coach,
because I'm not the star.
But please don't forget me coach,
I promise I'll try real hard!
When  the team has won the game,
I'm happy and elated,
but I also feel sad and forgotten,
and it's because of you.
Why did you put me on your team,
if I wasn't good enough to play?
Why didn't you just cut me,
and I would have been on my way.
To go somewhere I'm wanted,
to help my self esteem.
You made me feel like an "I" coach,
and there is not a "I" in TEAM!
