Special Football Program

A question from Gail:

I'm the mom to Edwin, who is now 7 years old. I emailed you 5 years ago
about Edwin as a 2 year old skater. Edwin still enjoys roller and ice
skating, but is definitely not interested in freestyle any more. He likes
ice hockey, and skating fast. I'm glad he has this interest.

But my question is about Edwin's brother Alexander. Alexander is almost 8
years old, he has moderate to high functioning autism. Alexander is very
bright, but has no social interaction skills. Alexander participates in
Special Olympics roller and ice skating.

Recently Alexander has shown an interest in football. He enjoys catching a
football, then running with it. He's also interested in throwing the ball.
Is there any program you know of where he could learn more about the game,
kind of like Challenger baseball? Alexander definitely would not be able to
function in a program with regular kids.

Thanks for your time - sorry this is so long.

Answer: In searching the web under Challenger Football I found this website www.downsyndromeresourcecenter.org/theyplaybecausetheycan.html

I don't know of anything else. Sorry. Say Hi to Edwin for me.
